Medium Depth Chemical Peel

What is a chemical peel and where is it performed ?

There are many different kinds and depths of chemical peels available, both in surgical settings and also in medi-spas. A chemical peel is made up of a combination of chemicals, which essentially burn the outer surface of your skin. It is important to understand that the depth of the peel will ultimately lead to a specific result. The stronger or deeper the peel, the more dramatic the result. Dr Wetton performs peels that do go quite deep and are known as a medium depth peel. They are quite painful when they are being performed and so she performs them in a hospital setting with an anaesthetist present. In this fashion, she can be sure that you will not be in pain, because the anaesthetist can be in charge of your medication.

Why consider a chemical peel ?

A chemical peel can be beneficial for all signs of skin ageing, such as fine lines, pigmentation, rough skin, and sun damaged skin. It can also be effective on freckles and some acne scars.

Recovery One week later:

For the first couple of days your skin will be a waxy white colour and then it will turn brownish and start to peel off. By the end of the first week most of the outer dead skin will have peeled off and you will be left with a smooth, pink skin underneath. This skin will gradually become less pink over the coming weeks. It is important to stay out of the sun and use a 50+ suncream because your skin will be very sensitive and soft, just like the skin of a baby and so it is vulnerable to being burnt badly.

Risks:

  • Hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation
  • Infection
  • Scarring
  • Uneven result
  • An obvious demarcation between the area that has been treated and the area that has not been treated.

How much will my chemical peel cost ?

The cost for a medium depth chemical peel is $1800 for a full face.

The fee above does not include the Hospital and the Anesthetic Fee.
